The first scientific seminar of the Center of Nonlinear Photonics and Quantum Technologies
The Center for Nonlinear Photonics and Quantum Technologies of Novosibirsk State University holds the first scientific seminar on October 24.
A lecture on the topic «twisted photons and electrons as a new instrument of research in physics» will be told by NSU professor Valery Serbo. In modern laser optics, so-called «twisted photons» are well known. These are laser beams in which photons have a nonzero projection of the orbital angular momentum on the axis of motion of the beam. Twisted photons and electrons can be an object of interest in the physics of atoms, nuclei, and elementary particles because they give the scientist more freedom during his or her work. The report will give a brief overview of the results related to the production and use of twisted particles. In particular, the unusual characteristics of fundamental atomic processes with twisted photons and electrons will also be discussed.
